Learning and awareness Learning is a function of awareness. Through the process of developing self-awareness, each individual discovers and learns new ways of using his or her entire self. Movement is the end product of a long series of information processing stages that take place beyond observation. Repeating a motion only has value after the motion had been learned. Allowing people to explore possible solutions is a critical aspect of the learning process. When it comes to learning, golfers should consider using a learning model even when looking for specific alignment and results. Information (through and by awareness) about actions, both mental and physical, must be available for long-term learning. Becoming aware of the differences between workable and unworkable motion is the first stage of the long-term retention of any skill. Awareness and self-discovery skills are far more useful than following someone’s “how to” list. |
